Grace & Glorie brings home three awards |
The Old
Courthouse Theatre, 49 Spring Street, Concord, received nine (9) nominations in
the Regional Category for the Metrolina Theatre Association's (MTA) 4th annual
awards celebration. The awards show on September 16, 2007 was a special night
for OCT, as they brought home three (3) awards.
Nominated for Outstanding Costume Design for their work on Annie Get your Gun
were Kim Baysinger, Anne Kidd, Becca Randolph, Patty Randolph, and Heather
Wilson. The story of Annie Oakley, Frank Butler, and Buffalo Bill's Wild West
Show was brought to life by the creative costuming created by this team of
costumers. Several of the costumes on stage were hand made by local volunteers.
This past May's showing of Grace & Glorie captured eight (8) total nominations
as the drama told the story of a feisty, cantankerous 90 year-old mountain woman
with plans to die at home in her ramshackle cabin high in Virginia’s Blue Ridge
Mountains, and the hospice worker assigned to care for her. Directed by Heather
Wilson, nominated for Outstanding Director, this two person show featured Becky
Porter as Grace, WINNER for Outstanding Actor - Female, and Dore Jamison as
Glorie, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor - Female, and the production
received a nomination for Outstanding Production.
The technical staff also was recognized as Trent Wilson captured Best Set Design
and was also nominated for two different technical effects. Mark Bargeloh and
Rick Goodrich won the award for Best Sound design.
This marks the first nominations and award winners for Old Courthouse Theatre in
the four year history of the MTA awards. A complete list of nominees and award
winners can be found at http://www.metrolinatheatre.org/.
