Oh my! Is it nearly June already? Hopefully you have enjoyed this past Memorial Day weekend. Much has been happening at OCT since our last newsletter. The old office is gone, and a new office and restrooms are well under construction. Thanks to those of you that donated to the cause. There will be female, male, and unisex restrooms, all with handicapped accessibility, a new laundry room, a separate director's office, and a new and modern business office. The front room near the theatre entrance has been converted into our concession area, with a serving window into the lobby. The OCT Guild (our volunteer organization) has been renamed The Rugledge Theatre League, in honor of Carlyle Rutledge, one of the theatre's important benefactors. In case you haven't heard, our Artistic Director, Heather Wilson, has been accepted into Graduate School at the University of Memphis. While we are saddened by her departure, we are excited about the opportunities this will bring to Heather in the future. Oh - and we have announced our 2007/2008 season! With five shows instead of our normal four. WOW! What a month. Click HERE to see our 32nd Season.

June 9th: An Extraordinary Night.

June 9, 2007 promises to be an evening to remember at OCT. There will be two special events on this one summer night. First, if you have purchased a paver for our Grotto improvement project, either during our 'Pavers for Potties' Campaign, or prior to that, you are invited to a special sneak peek at some of the updates we are making to the facility. Beginning at 6:30 pm, there will be refreshments, and tours of the facility. Beginning immediately afterwards at 7:30 pm, we will open the house for our annual Members meeting and Awards Gala. Hours' Douvres will be served until 8:00 pm, when the awards gala begins. If you are a season ticket holder or served as crew or an actor in one of this past season's show, you are invited to come join us for a special night in honor of Heather Wilson. If you plan on attending one or both of these events, please RSVP by calling the theatre at 704-788-2405. After the Gala, Emma's Carolina Cuisine will be hosting our first 'after-party'. The cost will be $20 per person, payable at the door of Emma's. A buffet featuring,
Pork BBQ, Chicken Strips, Spring Salad, Fruit Salad, Potato Salad, Desserts, and Tea/Coffee will be available, along with specials on Beer and Wine.

BlesSINGs Abound2: June 24th 2:30 pm.
|
|
Some of your favorite singers from OCT sing beloved Gospel Hymns in this special fund raising event. All proceeds will go toward the ongoing theatre repairs and operating expenses. Reservations ($10.00) can be made by calling 704-788-2405. General Admission on the day of the event will be first come-first served. Please note this is a fundraiser for YOUR community theatre. We really need your support, and would appreciate your attendance at this special event.

Upcoming Auditions
|
|
Auditions for the upcoming Children's Theatre presentation of Bridge to Teribithia will be held June 11th and 12th, at 7:00 pm. This powerful adaptation, supported by a lyrical score, focuses the humor, warmth and emotional intensity of Katherine Paterson's Newbery Award winning novel. Jesse, alienated from the pragmatism of his family and rural Virginia culture, draws and dreams of becoming something special. Leslie, the new girl from the city and the ultimate outsider, opens a world of imagination, art and literature for him. Together they create Terabithia, a fantasy kingdom where they are safe from those who don't understand them. Their friendship grows as Jesse's world expands. When tragedy strikes, the strength gained in Terabithia takes Jesse forward on his own and lets him share the magic of his dreams. For All Ages.
