Grace & Glorie,
by Tom Ziegler, May 3-11, 2007
Grace, a feisty, cantankerous 90 year-old mountain woman,
plans to die at home in her ramshackle cabin high in Virginia’s Blue Ridge
Mountains. Just out of the hospital, she has no use for Glorie, the hospice worker assigned to care for her. As the two strong,
stubborn women get to know each other, they unexpectedly forge a deep bond despite their different
backgrounds, endowing each of their lives with the wisdom that they share.
Glorie -
I'm Dore Jamison. I work at
Paragon Surgical Specialists for a wonderful group of Surgeons as an Executive
Assistant. I was last seen onstage as Lorraine Sheldon in "The Man Who Came to
Dinner". I am honored to be working again with Heather Wilson and to have the
privilege to meet and work with Becky Porter, what a talent!! I want to thank my
two sweet loving kids for giving me up every evening for a month so I could have
the opportunity to play Gloria Whitmore. I would like to dedicate this
performance to my angel, Derrick Purser.
Grace -
Becky Porter has been a member of the OCT family for
31 years. She is very proud to be one of the founding members of this special
organization. She has appeared in shows in Concord, Charlotte, Albemarle, and
Salisbury. Through the years she has received 7 awards for acting and the Mary
Snead Boger Award for Excellence in Theatre. Some of her favorite roles
are: Tessie in "Gypsy", Betty in "The Foreigner", Rosemary in "Picnic", May in
"Fool for Love", Truvy in "Steel Magnolias" and Annie Nations in "Foxfire".
Becky sends thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to make this dream come
true, Dore for being such a great partner on this adventure, Heather for too
many things to list here and God for all the blessing in life. She dedicates
this show to her mother, Hope Porter, whose faith is a true inspiration to
everyone she meets. | |
