Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa
Claus |
|
Inspired by a simple, poignant letter
written over 100 years ago by 8-year-old
Virginia O'Hanlon to the editor of the
New York Sun and by the timeless
editorial response printed on the front
page of the Sun.
Virginia wondered and wrote: "Dear
Editor, I am eight years old. Some of my
little friends say there is no Santa
Claus. Papa says if you see it in the
Sun, it's so. Please tell me the truth.
Is there a Santa Claus?" Ed Mitchell,
the Sun's editor, gives the assignment
of answering Virginia's letter to Frank
Church who, until his wife and baby died
last Christmas Eve, was the Sun's best
and most dependable reporter.
Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus is
a play for young and old, magically
reaffirming life's highest beauty and
joy "the eternal light with which
childhood fills the world."
Performances: November 29, 30, December
1, 6, 7, 8 at 8:00 pm, December 2 and 9

Capital Campaigns
|
|
We have two different Paver Campaigns
currently in progress. Even though the
parking lot looks better with the new
striping, there is a need to completely
replacement the pavement. This will
cost approximately $30,000.
We are also looking into the very real
probability that our Air Conditioning
systems will need to be replaced before
next summer. Preliminary quotes for
that job are approximately $50,000.
You can purchase a paver for our grotto
area with your name, family, or
business, and direct the funds directly
into whichever campaign you choose. If
you like, you can also just make a
donation to either campaign. The small
bricks are $150.00, while the larger
ones are $500.00. Email
info@oldcourthousetheatre.org for
more information. |
