Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus
Inspired by a simple, poignant letter written over 100 years ago by 8-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon to the editor of the New York Sun and by the timeless editorial response printed on the front page of the Sun.

Virginia wondered and wrote: "Dear Editor, I am eight years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says if you see it in the Sun, it's so. Please tell me the truth. Is there a Santa Claus?" Ed Mitchell, the Sun's editor, gives the assignment of answering Virginia's letter to Frank Church who, until his wife and baby died last Christmas Eve, was the Sun's best and most dependable reporter.

Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus is a play for young and old, magically reaffirming life's highest beauty and joy "the eternal light with which childhood fills the world."

Performances: November 29, 30, December 1, 6, 7, 8 at 8:00 pm, December 2 and 9 at 2:30 pm.  Check here for the cast list.

Kelly Slusarick is season's 2nd director
Kelly developed a love of the fine arts as a very young child, beginning with art and piano lessons in kindergarten. She attended the NC School of the Arts as a music major (piano), then switched to theatre, as it better encompassed all of her creative passions! She graduated from Brevard College with an Associate Degree in Fine Arts, then transferred to East Carolina where she received a degree in Theatre Education K-12.

Kelly has taught MANY creative classes and lessons (piano, art, music, theatre and musical theatre) in a variety of educational settings. She has taught theatre at the high school and grade school levels, and has led various children's choirs and music programs. She has also written several musicals, and has a passion for designing and painting sets and backdrops as well.

She  teaches our children's drama classes - Acting Up!- here at The Old Courthouse Theatre. Kelly has directed Charlotte's Web and Bridge To Terabithiaat Old Courthouse Theatre as well as been involved behind the scenes in many other shows the past two seasons. She gives a special thanks to Heather, Trent and "Miss Anne" - as well as her husband Scot and two precious daughters, Sarah and Zoe.

New Year's Eve Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre

No plans for New Year’s Eve?   How about murder?  Plan on attending our annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for entertainment, dinner, dancing, a silent auction, and champagne at midnight.

Our silent auction this year will be augmented with items from Classic Art of Concord.  If you or your business would like to donate items for our silent auction please contact the theatre at oldcourthousetheatre@ctc.net or 704-788-2405.

Reservations are required and can be made now.  Cost is $65 per person.

Capital Campaigns

We have two different Paver Campaigns currently in progress.  Even though the parking lot looks better with the new striping, there is a need to completely replacement the pavement.  This will cost approximately $30,000.

We are also looking into the very real probability that our Air Conditioning systems will need to be replaced before next summer.  Preliminary quotes for that job are approximately $50,000.

You can purchase a paver for our grotto area with your name, family, or business, and direct the funds directly into whichever campaign you choose.   If you like, you can also just make a donation to either campaign.  The small bricks are $150.00, while the larger ones are $500.00.  Email info@oldcourthousetheatre.org for more information.
