SUMMER 2007 - Youth Theatre Productions Scapin the Schemer: In their fathers' absence, Octave has secretly married Hyacinthe and Léandre has secretly married Zerbinette. But the fathers return from a trip with marriage plans for their respective sons. Scapin, after hearing many pleas for help, comes to their rescue. Thanks to many tricks and lies, Scapin imagines to gain enough money from the parents to make sure that the young couples get to stay married. But, no one knows who Hyacinthe and Zerbinette really are. Will he figure it out? And will the parents catch him before his plans come to fruition? Have no fear, it all ends in the classic "And they lived happily ever after," and Scapin is even brought to the head of the table at the ending feast (even though he has to fake a fatal wound to make it happen). This show will be $10 and presented in our Black Box Theatre with tickets available at the door 30 minutes before show time on the day of the performance. Dates are July 11-14 @ 08:00 pm, and July 15 @ 2:30 pm. Director: James Shafer Stage Manager: Deborah Stanley Cast of SCAPIN THE SCHEMER
A Children's Musical :
This powerful
adaptation, supported by a lyrical score, focuses the humor, warmth and
emotional intensity of Katherine Paterson's Newbery Award winning novel. Jesse, alienated
from the pragmatism of his family and rural Virginia culture, draws and dreams
of becoming something special. Leslie, the new girl from the city and the
ultimate outsider, opens a world of imagination, art and literature for him.
Together they create Terabithia, a fantasy kingdom where they are safe from
those who don't understand them. Their friendship grows as Jesse's world
expands. When tragedy strikes, the strength gained in Terabithia takes Jesse
forward on his own and lets him share the magic of his dreams. For All Ages.
August 2-5 and 9-12 on the main stage. All shows are at 8:00 , except for Sundays, which are at 2:30 pm. Call 704-788-2405 to make reservations, or click here for complete ticket information.
The Comedy of Errors - This show relies heavily on mix-ups and witty dialogue. The characters include two sets of twins, Antipholus of Ephesus and Antipholus of Syracuse and Dromio of Ephesus and Dromio of Syracuse. Dromio of Ephesus is the slave of Antipholus of Ephesus, and Dromio of Syracuse is the slave of Antipholus of Syracuse. Antipholus of Ephesus is unaware that he has a twin brother, Antipholus of Syracuse. And Dromio of Ephesus is unaware that he also has a twin brother, Dromio of Syracuse. Farcical mix-ups occur when all the twins converge in Ephesus. August 16-19 and 23-26 on the main stage, with all shows at 8:00 pm, except for Sundays which are at 2:30 pm. Admission price will be $10 at the door. Director: James Shafer Stage Manager: Deborah Stanley Cast of THE COMEDY OF ERRORS
